Navy Parachute Rigger (PR) Introduction and Sewing Practice Test

Before loading parachute equipment, you want the deployment system to be able to function smoothly, and that starts with how the lines are arranged. Verifying line stowage ensures every suspension line is neatly placed in its proper channels and loops, so it can feed out freely without snagging on the pack, harness, or other lines. When line stowage is correct, there’s less risk of tangles or crossovers that could delay or obstruct canopy inflation, which is critical for a safe opening. While checking for tangles is part of line care, focusing on line stowage addresses the entire path the lines will take during deployment. Validation of the serviceability date is a maintenance consideration and not a direct step of the immediate pre-pack safety check for loading, whereas proper line stowage directly affects the next deployment action.
